Considering the fact that the total cost of the wedding services I requested was over $1,000, you would think a company would be more interested in securing a contract. As a law student studying to take the Texas Bar in 17 days, I am well aware of contract law, and how important it is for parties to feel that they are getting what they bargained for when they enter a binding contract. However, I simply can't trust a company to perform the very important task of doing my hair and makeup on my wedding day after this. I have chosen to offer my business to another salon, who I trust will perform their end of the bargain.
Connie knows her stuff! I came across her by chance to have her do my hair and makeup for a wedding and she did an amazing job! I got compliments the entire evening. I've returned to her since for hair coloring and she always exceeeds my expectations. She's very knowledgeable in that she's always explaining the coloring process and hair care afterwards. Would highly recommend her to anyone
In July, when I showed up to have balayage done on my hair, I trusted the salon to perform the service that I requested. I showed the stylist a picture of exactly what I wanted. I ended up, not with subtle brown balyage, but full-on blonde highlights over my dark brown hair. (When I went to another salon in McAllen to fix this disaster a few days later, the stylist confirmed that VBar definitely did not do balyage.) Further, when I showed up, the salon had no idea that I had arranged to come in and finalize details about the wedding, or that I was even coming in to put down a substantial deposit for these services. I had to reexplain everything to the owner, who wrote it all down again like it was the first time I was having this conversation with the salon. Further, after promising to color-match my hair for extensions, she completely forgot and let me leave without doing it. I had to remember, drive back to the salon, and ask them to do it. Finally, the owner gave me her word that she would email me a contract by Wednesday, July 5th, which I could then sign and return with a deposit. Its now Saturday, July 8th, and I never received anything. My bridal photo session is on July 11th, and so I purposefully scheduled my trial hair/makeup appointment on the same day with VBar. However, if I can't confirm through a signed contract that VBar will actually be the salon doing my hair/makeup for the wedding, then why would I want them doing my trial?
I want to preface with I've never written a review for a business before, but I felt too strongly about my experience not to say something. I contacted VBar back in the Spring to learn about their wedding services because I was seriously considering using them for my upcoming wedding this August. When I called, I asked detailed questions about pricing, services, and I even set up all of my appointments (hair appointment for balayage coloring, bridal trial hair & makeup, and to get to color-matched for hair extensions). The woman I spoke to on the phone claimed she wrote everything down and had all of this information stored. I was told I could email sample pictures of my bridal hair/makeup look, the bridesmaid look, as well as the flower girl to VBar ahead of time. Because I'm an out-of-town bride, I was told that when I came in for my first hair appointment in July, I could meet with the stylist who would be doing my hair/makeup for the wedding, and finalize all of the wedding details. I wanted to use this appointment to confirm that the stylist could do the look that I wanted for the wedding.
No employee accountability for appointments. Called previous day for my daughters appointment to confirm appointment and add services. Arrived on appointment day 15 minutes ahead of time to find out appointment was moved up two hours. Funny thing is confirmation appointment was made with Jessica which happens to be the manager of the stores name. She was respectful enough to squeeze us in for a quick hair style and and still charged full price for a rush job. Advise going with a company that can do email confirmations or verify appointments prior to arrival.
Very nice. Although a bit pricey
I hope this review will serve the purpose of informing VBar that they need to reform their customer service, particularly when it involves costly, and time-sensitive events like an up-coming wedding.
Ashley Jones is the best. Love my new cut! Go check her out. V-bar is a very nice and relaxing environment.
