Mainly, the lowered rating is because of the cost of using this facility. It is costly, but when you really need them, and you care about your sic pet, and think about the fact that they are there when everybody else is closed, the cost doesn't become such a bad thing. They probably have to charge the rates in order to stay in business with at least three people there during all open hours. If you have a really good regular vet and your pet can hold off till regular veterinarians open in the morning, then it will probably cost less to wait.
I have used them three times now and feel the care is excellent, and the fact that there are usually only a few patients at any one time, means you get more dedicated care, especially late into the night.
No one wants to go to an emergency pet facility, but Saturday night the staff made our loss bearable with their tender hands to our Maggie. Unfortunately, we lost Maggie but it was so nice to see how much the staff cared not only about her but us as well. I have and will continue to recommend this facility for emergency care of anyone's pets. Thank you Emergency Pet Clinic for your kindness in this hard time we experienced and thank you for taking such loving care of our Maggie.
The entire staff was amazing with my scared little dog. The vet was very understanding and explained everything. The tech was very sweet and calm with her, even when she was hiding under the chairs and refused to come out.
My most recent issue occurred on (when else) Friday evening, so i had the advantage of this facility being open for the next 56 hours and was able to have really good continuity with my pet's care
Last Sunday was one of the most upsetting nights of our lives. Our beautiful 5 yr old German Shepherd had been through a LOT the past few months. He had surgery and bounced right back, got very ill again with vet saying it was from a tick borne disease. Again he got better. About month and a half later he quit eating couple days and Sunday his body started shutting down when I got home from work after 7pm. We strongly suspect foul play but hard to prove. Begged husband to take him to ER vs waiting for vet he loved in morning. So sad by this point as he was dying. He struggled to get him in his truck and drive to Corpus. He died when he brought him in.
I would definitely take both of my babies back here if they ever need it, and I would recommend them to others!
The visit was slightly more expensive than my regular vet (by about $20) but it's an emergency vet, that's understandable.
Our family dog, a little over one year old, stopped eating a few days ago and started to vomit and have stomach issues. He wouldn't stop vomiting so we took him to the Animal Clinic at Baldwin and Crosstown. They gave him some meds and said to bring him back in a few days if he wasn't better. The following day he was worse and it was late, so we brought him to this place. $1,000 later, they tell us to take him back to the vet, the Animal Clinic on Baldwin because, per the X-ray's, he seemed to have a blockage of some kind. We took him at 7a.m. for exploratory surgery to see what was going on in his stomach. All they found was inflammation of the pancreas or pancreatitis. Our dog is now dead. They had us pick him up the same day of his surgery. They didn't even offer to keep him overnight for observation. He never stopped bleeding from his rectum. We called the Baldwin clinic back to find out what we should do and by then the answering service was on. They referred us to this place again...the Emergency Animal Hospital. We have since found out that these two places send patients back and forth between each other. Someone at this hospital told us the bleeding was normal after surgery. So we gave him his antibiotics, got him as comfortable as possible, and went to bed. He died early the next morning. Our dog bled to death. He didn't even live 24 hours after the surgery. Not only did they take our money and proceed to not even diagnose him correctly, they gave us poor/wrong information about the bleeding being normal after surgery. Our family is devastated. We won't be suing because we have been told this is something difficult to prove, so a bad review is the best we can do and hope to warn others about both of these places. Please do not ever use either of these places. Go to a better place and work out a payment plan. Save your fur babies from these horrible places!
Getting your card with Panzer's paw print in mail made us cry but it was such a kind gesture. Thank you. We all loved Panzer but I got him because all husband did was talk about his first Shepherd he'd lost at 5 also. He was his best friend and pride and joy. Thank you for caring.
I rated only four stars because of two negative issues, first, the issue of closing at 8AM on weekdays. In one of my issues, I had to get up after sleeping only two hours following a very stressful late night and go move "my baby" when I felt she shouldn't be moved. But they are open all weekend from Friday evening till Monday morning and all day on holidays.
They provide great care for the pets, and it's good that they are open when others are closed, but the fact that they close at 8AM on weekdays means you have to move your pet elsewhere, in some cases before it's ready to be moved. They are good about forwarding all information to the place you are taking your baby. After all that, my pet recovered well from a very serious life threatening issue, I have to give thanks to the surgery and care the Pet Center provided.
