Our son is a Freshman at TAMUCC -- called home to Houston -- was hurting & had already been to the clinic on campus -- I got online to see where to send him and found Driscoll Urgent Care and discovered it was affilated with Christus Spohn South -- so I sent him there -- after his exam they sent him across the street to the hospital -- Our son called us from the hospital so we could give them our insurance information over the phone -- The first person I spoke to was patient, answered our questions and gave us a full description of what was to take place -- our son was admitted and scheduled for surgery to remove his appendix -- once we arrived at the hospital in panic mode -- the first stop was the information desk at the main entrance -- the kind lady not only spoke to us with care and concern but to took the time to walk us to the surgery area -- she did not just give us directions and send us on our way! Once in the surgery waiting area -- the staff went way above kind and courteous -- every person at the desk knew we were driving in and knew exactly who are son was -- they gave a step by step account of what had taken place starting from with the time the entered surgery to how he was doing in the recovery room -- within moments of our arrival the RN taking care of our son came out to speak with us and even hugged me saying she was a mom also and that they had been taking good care of son since he was there without family!! Once back in his room -- EVERYONE from the nurses to the chaplin checked on him and us -- the geinuine care and patience each member of the staff displayed seemed heartfelt! Whether we were in the dining area or gift shop or simply walking through the halls -- everyone was kind, spoke, and seemed to treat each other and the patients with respect and care -- we have been to many hospitals throughout the years with our boys -- they have played sports all over the state and have had injuries requiring hospital visits -- and I have never been to a cleaner more well cared for hospital campus -- it is evident from the parking area to the waiting area to the dining area to the elevator and rooms -- the employees take pride in the facility, the care they give, and the respect they share for one another and healthcare -- It is of great comfort to know for the next three years -- if our son has a medical need -- Christus Spohn South will be the only choice for us!!
We have had 3 horrible experiences with 3 different family members within the last 1 1/2 years. My son was in auto accident and the whole system was a nightmare. Then we had a brother-in-law who came through ER that was another bad outcome. Then sister-in-law went in and was treated quite non-chalantly because it was the end of the week and her regular heart doctor was going out of town. She died one week later, in my opinion, due to the doctors at Spohn.
