Small engine repair shop tried to rip me off. Hardware selection very limited and staff very indifferent especially for small hardware store.

I should start by saying I had a terrific experience here getting my mower worked on last year. This year, I took the mower in because it had stopped running. I was called and told the carburetor needed to be rebuilt and they wanted to replace another part. I was aware the other part was a problem, but I'd been working around it for a couple of years and it was expensive to replace so I'd rather not pay for something unnecessarily. Seven days later, I called to check on the status of the mower. The girl told me the mechanic wasn't going to work on the mower because I didn't want this other part replaced. I grew angry and asked why in a week I'd not been notified of this. The clerk didn't have an answer and grew defensive because of my tone. I calmed myself and apologized explaining I wasn't angry with her. I asked to speak with the mechanic. I was told he wouldn't talk to anyone on the phone and that I'd have to come in to talk to someone about the mower. I did. I asked for a manager. I was never clear if I actually spoke with one, but the gentleman looked up the paperwork and said the mower would be fixed the next day. There are shenanigans at this location. On top of that, no one apologized or explained the issue. Unless some changes are made, I will be voting with my dollars at another location.
This store has very friendly employees and I will continue to support them, if customers like me have issues its not just because of the store policy or the employees its the customers too. Sometime we want some things done for free or quick and cheap and then complaint that it's not working right.
I have been in this store several times when Chris was the manager there and he was very rude to people....I witnessed it my self. So for M Saippa to say he was the best maybe in her eyes but not to all the customers.
Never fails. If you're looking for something obscure the gal at Meadowbrook will either find the part or a reasonable facsimile. Amazing persistence. The fixer of tools couldn't fix my electric chain saw, but she headed me in the right direction so I could fix it myself. Thanks so much. And you don't have to buy a huge box of screws just what you need. Yea
