I’ve never written a review, but after moving away from Corpus Christi I am REALLY missing this place right now! The food from Hutai is delicious (I’ve had almost everything on the menu) especially the egg rolls and fried rice. Prices are reasonable, especially their lunch specials. This was a popular place throughout my high school years and once when I was sick and forgot my wallet in my car, the owner gave me my order on the house. Great people and great food!
I like the restaurant, I like the food, but tonight's waitress made it an unpleasant experience. She seemed angry and then took it out on us by being very rude. How does someone, who forgot so much of what we requested, tell me 'I heard you!' when I requested a soda again because she hasn't brought it. She had to ask me if I wanted more tea when I just told her I did. All that, and you're going to make a rude comment. She's lucky someone paid for my meal because I think he gave her a tip because I want giving her one! I don't want to rate the restaurant because I don't want my bad waitress to affect their rating but it won't let me just leave a comment. Sorry, only 3 stars. I say she needs a refresher course on customer service. :/
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant: outstanding egg rolls, hot and sour soup, and won ton soup. The chef makes the best dark sauce for meat dishes! The beef in the beef dishes is wonderfully tender. The chef is the proprietor and everything he does is superb! 5 stars for sure!!
Food was good. Although, waiter refused to give a large to go box because I ate at the restaurant. They would rather give you two or three boxes for your meal than one. Not very good customer service.
Always good food. Eddie the waiter is very attentive to your needs. Only complaint is they are closed on the weekends!
