We went on a weekend just getting away from Houston. Lucky for us we were upgraded to a nice suit. They have wonderful receptionist and we enjoyed this hotel. Little bar in the lobby is very convenient and quiet. Nice size pool and recreation area including table tennis, air hockey, and some arcade games. The restaurant was pretty good, but I'd eat at one of the local spots. We loved the hotel and service we received so much, we came back the next weekend! Definitely would recommend to those couples and families looking for a fun inside or beach side escape.
My Dad, brother and I stayed here for 4 days. The visit was outstanding. The staff were always courteous and respectful and prompt. The hotel is a bit dated due to the date of construction. We attended a conference so had multiple opportunities to interact with the staff. The hotel was always clean and tidy and provided the impression that they operate with good attention to detail. It sits at the ocean, with the backdoor of the hotel pool leading out to the water. It is proximity to the ocean and is within walking distance of many attractions. I highly recommend to others.
This hotel is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in the area. Nostalgic black and white photos of the hotel in its heyday years line the 1st floor hallways. While the hotel is generally clean and the service helpful, the property is past its prime and the ownership seems satisfied with a budget friendly profile. The indoor pool and game area is great for families, as is its proximity to "Emerald Beach", but few locals use the bay area for water recreation aside from sailing or fishing; drive to Padre or Mustang Island if you want a real beach experience. The location is waterfront with excellent proximity to downtown and room service is great for the price, but if you prefer newer rooms or a more luxurious stay you might look down the street.
The location was great. Amenities needed updating. Accidentally left a pair of $100 ladies boots in room 706. Called that afternoon and was told to call housekeeping the following morning. Housekeeping reported no boots were turned in.....surprised?
Went to a retirement party there. The food for banquet food was pretty good. The servers were very friendly and quick with serving the food and clearing the plates and utensils. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel is the parking lot. Not a lot of parking and not lit well. It also needs to be resurfaced.
