I was very excited to stay at this hotel as it looked perfectly located on North Beach. I had called a few days before checking in as I was concerned obviously that the hurricane had come through earlier. They had told me everything was fine and they were up and running. So when I checked in, I didn't question much as outside the grounds looked a bit over run. They were still fixing issues right? Check into my room and go into it and find that the room does not look that clean... My friend who was in the room next to me told me that his bathroom had not even been cleaned from the previous guests. We voiced this to the front desk and all they did was apologize. I ended up paying $157 a night for a room that quite frankly in the OFF SEASON shouldn't have cost more than $100. But we had already booked the room and had plans in North Beach so we decided to stick it out. The house keepers never came at all the entire weekend until the day I was suppose to check out, then they pounded on my door at 9am in the morning when I was trying to get some last minute sleep in before my long flight home. When I mentioned on Sat night to the front desk that the cleaners had not been by, they had told me that I needed to be more understanding that there were only three of them for the whole hotel. NOT MY PROBLEM! SO my two friends and I looked to move hotels, unfortunately the only hotel that we could get rooms at were the really nice hotel down town. I was not intended to spend that kind of money, so I was STUCK at this one. Honestly, I would suggest staying at another hotel if you look around. Some of the staff is friendly, some of them have a very "not my problem" attitude. The room was dirty, the bathroom was filthy, there was paint coming off in the bathroom. The WiFi did not work most the time.... just an all around poor experience that cost WAY WAY too much.
We have stayed here several times and always enjoy this location. Very good hotel right on the beach. Our room faced out to the bay and was walking distance to shops, restaurants, USS Lexington and Aquarium. Priced right and rooms were clean and comfortable. Manager and staff always helpful and accommodating and will help any way they can. There are some renovations going on after Harvey, understandable, but no inconvenience at all. We will be back!
I've stayed here at least a few times each year for the last 5 years. Same story, musty smelling rooms, so so cleanliness and needs updating. Pool area is ok. I'm impressed with the the guy at front desk (Andy) good worker very helpful.
Thought we were getting a great deal on the beach, but woke to a roach infested breakfast, trash overflowing, and nobody at the front desk! After waiting around for a couple hours to talk to someone, we had been told the morning desk manager decided to leave early and had left a note about it to the guy who showed up around 8am.. there parking lot is also infested with ants! We were killing ants in our car the entire 3 hour drive home! A week later and I still see one here and there! This place should not be opened at this time, would be better off closing to do necessary repairs and a bug treatment after those hurricanes hit the gulf!
Location is fine. It looks like it could use a face lift but, if they're catering to "workers", management probably doesn't care about how cheap it looks. Front desk girl was polite and sweet but might need to read up on giving out too much info to an outsider regarding one of their paying guests.
